MAJOR (Ret.) HENRY H.WASHINGTON, III

BIOGRAPHY

               

The Meritorious Service Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal (with Four Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal, the NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge are all recognitions and badges of honor awarded to 25-year United States Army veteran Major (Ret.) Henry H. Washington, III.

 

After enlisting in the military in 1988 as a Chemical Specialist, Major Washington attended the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) course in Fort McClellan, Alabama, and later was selected to join the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Georgia Southern University/Savannah State University.  Thereafter, he attended the Military Police Officer Basic Course and later in 1993, Major Washington was assigned to the 284th Military Police Company in Frankfurt, Germany where he served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer.  His culminating assignment while in Germany would be as the Battalion Adjutant, deploying records and personnel forward to Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

 

Upon completion of his tour in Germany in 1996, Major Washington attended the Military Police Officer Advance Course in Fort McClellan, Alabama and was appointed Commander of the Fort Gordon Military Police Company and Installation Force Protection Officer in Augusta, Georgia.  During his command Major Washington attended the Combined Arms Senior Service School, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  In September 1999, Major Washington was again appointed to Command the 21st Military Police Criminal Investigation Division in Yongsan, Korea.  Upon completion of his one-year tour in Korea in August 2000, Major Washington was appointed to Command the Fort Leavenworth Disciplinary Barracks as the Commander and Operations Officer of the Military’s most dangerous inmates. 

 

After a three-year assignment, in February 2003, he was appointed as the Operations Officer for Forces Command (FORSCOM) in Atlanta, Georgia were he deployed with the 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Georgia to oversee the Military Police mission distribution across Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan.   After a two-year assignment with FORSCOM, in May 2005, Major Washington attended the Acquisition Management Course in Huntsville, Alabama where he became a certified Acquisition Officer for the Army.  Major Washington was then assigned to the Pentagon with duty in Falls Church, Virginia in August 2005, as an Assistant Product Manager.  In September 2007, he again deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan to manage the combat equipment within theater.  In August 2009, Major Washington was assigned to the Combat Readiness Center/Safety, Fort Rucker, Alabama as the Ground Investigator and Acquisition Specialist.  There he held the position of Chief Ground Investigator at the Combat Readiness Center/Safety were he deployed to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

With profound accomplishments and honorable experiences, Major Washington, III yields from humble beginnings as a native of Thomasville, Georgia.  He is the son of Army veteran Henry H. Washington, Jr. (deceased), and Rose Washington of Thomasville, Georgia.  Major Washington graduated from Thomasville High School in 1987 and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Savannah State University/Georgia Southern University, Savannah, Georgia in June 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  Major Washington also holds a dual Masters in Business and Security Management from Webster University. He is currently in his third year of pursuing a PhD in Business Organizational Management from Trident University, Cypress, California.
